Pneumatic solenoid valves for compressed air systems, to be combined with the connector and solenoid coil, which are sold separately.

Solenoid valves for pneumatic systems are used to control the air flow. The solenoid fitted to the valve opens or closes it. Solenoid valves can be monostable or bistable, and they differ mainly in how they behave when power is applied or removed. Here are the main differences:

Monostable solenoid valve

A monostable solenoid valve has only one stable position: when the solenoid is energised the valve changes state (for example, it opens or closes); when power is removed, the valve automatically returns to its default stable position thanks to a spring or a return mechanism.

Use: it is often used in applications where the valve must return to its initial position when power is no longer applied, for example in emergency systems or automatic control circuits.

Control: a single pulse changes its state, but the valve returns to its original position when power is removed.

Bistable solenoid valve

A bistable solenoid valve has two stable positions. It can be switched between two different states (for example, open and closed) with alternating pulses. Each state is held until an opposite pulse is sent to change it.

Use: it is used in applications where a position must be held until a new command is received. It is useful where energy consumption must be reduced, as it needs no continuous power to hold its position.

Control: it needs alternating pulses to switch between the two stable positions. Once a position is reached, the valve stays there until it receives a pulse to change it.
